Chai & Dye, born from a love story with India
The name says it all, or almost. Chai & Dye is a play on Tie and Dye, the textile technique, and chai, the spiced tea that punctuates every day in India. For me, chai is more than a drink. It's a ritual, a comfort, a Proustian madeleine that brings me straight back to the warmth of the country I now call home.
A journey that changed everything
In 2022, I arrived in India with a backpack and, I'll admit it, a head full of preconceptions. I wasn't expecting to fall in love with this place. But India has a way of dismantling certainties, one encounter at a time. Every conversation, every shared meal, every artisan met along the road sent my assumptions flying.
I spent a year travelling, slowly, letting the country reveal itself. Then I settled in Maharashtra, in the heart of western India, and never really left.
A brand rooted in craft
Today, I split my time between the world of tourism and Chai & Dye, a brand I built from my passion for Indian textiles and the skilled hands I encountered on my travels. Each piece is hand-sewn in India and inspired by traditional blockprinting techniques passed down through generations.
Behind every product is a story: of a fabric chosen with care and mainly of a craft that deserves to travel the world.
